  15. mcSanitizer is an ActiveX Control that will completely erase the 
  16. contents of sensitive files and documents that you specify. Normal file 
  17. deletion only removes a fileÆs directory entry, but leaves the data 
  18. contained in the file on your disk drive. mcSanitizer completely 
  19. overwrites the contents of a file, then renames it and then deletes it.

  21. mcSanitizer has the NSA approved seven-pass file erasure method. For 
  22. normal file deletion operations a two-pass method should be sufficient, 
  23. but if you want to thoroughly erase a fileÆs contents before deleting 
  24. it the NSA approved method may be used.

  26. Files and documents sanitized with mcSanitizer can not be recovered 
  27. using an undelete program. The purpose of mcSanitizer is to completely 
  28. remove sensitive files and their contents from you disk drive. Once a 
  29. file has been sanitized it can not be recovered using sophisticated 
  30. file restoration utilities.

  32. mcSanitizer respects the DOD 5220.22-M directive for sanitizing a file 
  33. on a Non-Removable Rigid Disk or a Removable Rigid Disk.

  36. disk without using the cache (better security but lower speed).
